Summary: Collection consists of the papers of Helen Greene Blumenschein and her parents Ernest and Mary Greene Blumenschein. Includes biographical materials, financial and tax documents, and letters sent and received. Among the letters are correspondence between the Blumenscheins and various art galleries and museums. Collection also includes inventories of artwork by Ernest and Mary Greene Blumenschein; typed manuscripts by Helen Greene Blumenschein on the Blumenschein family and the history of Taos, New Mexico; transcripts of oral history interviews with Helen Greene Blumenschein on her family; calendars featuring artwork by the Blumenscheins; and a guestbook signed by visitors to the Blumenschein home in Taos between 1956 and 1982.

Helen Greene Blumenschein was the daughter of Ernest and Mary Greene Blumenschein. All three of the Blumenscheins were artists who lived primarily in Taos, New Mexico. Mary Greene Blumenschein was born in 1869. She lived and painted in Paris at the turn of the 20th century where she won the Paris Salon Third Medal in 1900. She became the second woman and first American to win the Paris Salon Second Medal in 1902. In 1905, she married Ernest Leonard Blumenschein in Paris.
